Currently working as: IT Project Manager at Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois (CFL)
Where are you currently working and what is the biggest issue that you are facing at work or what is currently keeping you busy there?
Rail digitalisation of course! Many projects are going on at CFL in a multidisciplinary, transversal and multilingual environment. Currently, I do not have any people management responsibilities so I can focus on other areas of personal and professional development. And finally learning the 6th language on my count, Luxembourgish.
Has there been a professional challenge since you were a student for which your studies or experiences at the NIT have prepared you for perfectly?
The skills acquired at the NIT have been handy at all times. There are many perspectives of my education and experience at the NIT that have helped me all along my career after graduation, when starting up a company, when working for a joint venture start-up and finally, when working for a state owned rail company. Starting with intercultural awareness, negotiation skills, some concepts in psychology as well as fundamental concepts of finance, accounting, labor law and management. Project Management is a field of work where all this knowledge is an extremely useful asset.
What has happened in your private life in the meantime?
I am happily married with 4 children, two times twins. Many things to manage, optimize, complex logistics and a lot of negotiation!
What is your most precious / special / remarkable memory from your time studying at the NIT?
As for the question, honestly I would have said, it was one of the parties we celebrated at the NIT, this was for sure a memorable moment for all of us. But life at the NIT was full of small precious moments, such as working together on an assignment, studying until late with friends, learning to cook something new or just sharing lunch. So It is extremely difficult for me to just name one.
