Where are you currently working and what is the biggest issue that you are facing at work or what is currently keeping you busy there?
I am currently working at NXP Semiconductors, the biggest issue is to face rapid technology development in Automotive electronics in a geopolitic situation with unprecedented uncertainty.
Has there been a professional challenge since you were a student for which your studies or experiences at the NIT have prepared you for perfectly?
Yes, indeed, I think the studies on marketing, strategy thinking and presentation skills helped a lot, also time management (managing M.Sc, M.B.A and Goethe B1 at the same time 😉) played an important role.
What has happened in your private life in the meantime?
After graduation I worked for Continental in different countries, and luckily I met my current wife in Shanghai in 2011. We decided to settle down in Hamburg and had our first child who is a 7 year boy now visting second class in a primary school nearby. I also joined a table tennis club and played regularly there.
What is your most precious / special / remarkable memory from your time studying at the NIT?
The most precious memory is about the business planning course, where we worked over night on the idea of helping consumers get instant information and make quick purchase of something via scanning QR code, that was in 2008, when even iPhone 4 was not yet on the market. Look at nowadays, how many things are done via scanning QR code, it is a pity that we did not drop out and start a company around that idea 😂
