Anubhav Ravichandran, Class 09
Currently living in: Bonn, Germany
Currently working as: Vice President Global Head of Product Controlling at DHL Global Forwarding
(The woman next to him on the picture above is his wife.)
Where are you currently working and what is the biggest issue that you are facing at work or what is currently keeping you busy there?
I am currently working in the freight forwarding industry at the world's biggest and most international freight forwarder, namely DHL Global Forwarding. Me and my team are responsible for ensuring our Board Members and Senior Managers across the globe have access to the right information at the right time in an easy to digest manner so that they can steer the business in the right direction. The biggest challenge I currently face is that of change in areas such as offshoring, digitalisation, mergers & acquisitions. Freight forwarding is a very traditional industry and the company was founded 207 years ago so change is normal and something people are used to but that doesn't mean the journey is easy :).
Has there been a professional challenge since you were a student for which your studies or experiences at the NIT have prepared you for perfectly?
I work at the most international employer/company in the world. Intercultural competence is a must and my experiences at the NIT laid a great foundation to not only interact but also understand/enjoy/cherish and be accepting of ideas/values/perspectives of people from different parts of the world.
What has happened in your private life in the meantime?
I married my girlfriend from even before NIT times and we recently completed 10 years of marriage. We adopted Marley, a chocolate labrador from a nearby shelter 2.5 years ago. Rescuing and helping him through his past trauma has been the most enriching experience of my life. I have travelled to 60 countries and scuba diving has become my biggest passion. I completed my 200th dive this month off the Pacific coast of Mexico. Oh and finally, I shaved my head end of last year and accepted that balding was just another milestone :P.

Anu really went the extra mile for that photograph: he managed to revive the old hard drive from his NIT laptop from 13 years ago and it actually had some pictures from then. Do you also have some old photos on superold hard drives and computers you would love to share?
